Los Angeles Football Club and Banc of California Stadium
Receives 2019 Q Award.

Los Angeles, CA The 2019 Q Award recipient, The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) for its development of the Banc of California Stadium, served as proud host to the Alliance for Quality Construction’s 2019 Q Award luncheon. On Tuesday, May 21 over 200 attendees were present to witness the awarding of the 2019 Q Award to the world-class, innovative stadium. Located in the heart of Los Angeles, the project was chosen as this year’s recipient for its 100% union construction, excellent safety record, innovative design, and its ability to provide construction jobs locally.

The presentation took place on the stadium’s field while the 2019 Award video was played on the Jumbotron – an exciting enhancement to the Q Award ceremony.

“From concept, to collective bargaining, on to completion, Banc of California Stadium is a prime example of what we can achieve together. We’d like to recognize PCL for their commitment to quality construction, and also our Southwest brothers and sisters who helped make this dream a reality for Los Angeles,” said Dan Langford, Executive Secretary-Treasurer for the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters who served as the 2019 Q Award Title Sponsor.

Award attendees of note included special guests Los Angeles City Council President Herb J. Wesson, Chris Ritter, Operations Manager representing the project’s general contractor PCL Construction Services, Inc., Seth Burton, VP of Communications for the L.A. Football Club who accepted the Q Award, and Ron Miller the Executive Secretary/Treasurer of the LA/OC Building Trades and AQC Chairman.

"The Banc of California Stadium is truly one of a kind. It goes to show what is possible when you employ Building Trades labor - top notch construction and quality local jobs in our community," said Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson.

PCL Construction Operations Manager Chris Ritter said teamwork was everything. “I have to thank our partner-subcontractors and the Trades. You were the ones out there sweating, making this project come together. The evidence is all around you.” Indeed, PCL claimed previous Q Awards in 2017 for NBCUniversal’s Harry Potter attraction and in 2005 for the Home Depot Center (now Dignity Health Sports Park).

LAFC VP of Communications Seth Burton said the stadium has brought fans and the community together. “Thank you for all the work you’ve done. I think this is the best soccer stadium in the country, and to do it with the involvement of the community, which is why the work goals were set so high for local hire, we’re just so proud to have met those goals. I hope to see you all out enjoying a game soon.”

During the program, a lifetime achievement award was also presented to Pam Ackrich the Chair Emeritus of Alliance for Quality Construction for her dedication and leadership while serving the Building Industry Association of Southern California in her previous role as Labor Relations Director.

“Projects like this one do not come along every day and the level of partnership between the owner, contractor, organized labor, the City of Los Angeles and the Community helped make this venue a go to spot for all Angelinos” said Ron Miller the Executive Secretary of the LA/OC Building Trades and AQC Chairman.
